Serge Felix Joosten (1971, Nijmegen) is a passionate naturephotographer with a almost graphical vision and a keen eye on natural phenomena and abstractions in our natural surroundings.
He considers his speciality on isolating suburban and earthly elements and spotting graphical and geometrical structures in the natural world, as well in landscape photography. Also wildlife and macro has his particular attention.
Since its 16th he has photographed into the wild and also took part actively in associations such as the Society for the study and conservation of mammals and other societies for protecting the wildlife. During the years 1988-1990 he volunteert in an Beechmarten (martes foina)-study in The Netherlands. After his study in agriculture -and forestrymanagement and training work for that matter at state forestry management and the Governmental institute for nature conservation, he chose for another existence in the outdoorworld. He worked for years in the commercial outdoorworld .
In 1996, he started his own small company: Down to Earth adventure, an outwardbound/survival skills organisation of whom its clients were mostly from special forces units and SWAT. There is almost nothing he has`nt experienced in the outdoors. In speleology and mountaineering he has his instructor-license. In 2006 he quit with this company and by then the digital photography was a kind of a rebirth for him. His working area is mainly The Netherlands itself with its tremendous possibilities but he also travels through Europe with a strong preference of Scandinavia and Switserland.
He is a member of the VNF Nijmegen, NVN (Dutch organisation for naturephotographers) and Nature Photographer Network. He works with Nikon camera `s and Nikkor lenses. Serge photographed earlier for catalogues, travel books and commercial institutions. His work is represented by the Dutch leading stockburo Fotonatura. Currently we`re working on a first book regarding minimalistic naturephotography, expected around december 2011.
